Because of its concern about the Town’s future as development increased, in 1956 a Town Meeting authorized the establishment of a Planning Commission.  The Planning Commission regulates subdivisions, prepares an overall plan for the future development of the Town, and approves Town programs for land use put forward by other town agencies, such as the Board of Education.

The Planning Commission produces the Redding Town Plan of Conservation and Development (last revision –1998) - available for perusal at the Mark Twain Library.   This Plan serves as a general guide for all land use commissions and sets forth the ideals that will safeguard the nature of Redding as the Town undergoes the inevitable changes that time will bring. Meetings of the Planning Commission are held on the second and fourth Tuesday of the month (or as posted), 8:00 p.m., in the Old Town House.

Members of the Planning Commission are elected Town Officials.

Land Use Forms

The land use process forms consist of: Interdepartmental Check-off Sheet for Zoning Permit; Land Use Application forms; First Cut Information forms; Legal Lot Requirement forms; commission fee schedules; list of available data with costs.

All forms and assistance through the process are available from the Redding Land Use Coordinator; at the Old Town House Building, 203-938-3721.
